Aria Fenix Is Writing Music Without Permission — And the World Is Listening

For Aria Fenix, music has never been about fitting neatly into a box. It’s been about listening inward, trusting intuition, and allowing sound to evolve as freely as life itself. Moving fluidly between pop, country, R&B, and Latin influences, the NYC–Colombia–based artist is building a body of work that feels both expansive and deeply personal.

Named a Top 10 Artist to Watch in 2024 by Symphonic US, Aria’s rise has been marked by notable milestones—features on Spotify’s New Music Friday Country and Viva Latino, appearances on Apple Music’s Hot Tracks US, and chart placements on iTunes Colombia. But behind the recognition is a story shaped by reinvention, courage, and an unwavering commitment to creative truth.

Aria Fenix, as the world knows her now, was reborn in 2022. That rebirth followed two pivotal turning points: the end of a previous record deal under a different artistic name, and the completion of medical school—a path encouraged by her family, even as music had always been her first calling. Rather than viewing those chapters as contradictions, Aria sees them as part of a larger evolution.

“When my first label deal ended, everything shifted,” she reflects. “I realized the world is far too vast—and too beautifully diverse—to confine myself to making music just because it might work in one city or fit a mold.” That realization became a release. Freed from expectation, Aria began writing from instinct rather than strategy, allowing genre to become fluid and emotion to lead.

The result is a sound that refuses predictability. Each track feels like its own world—sometimes soft and introspective, sometimes rhythm-driven and expansive—infused with subtle nods to her Colombian roots. “If people from all over the world connect to the music, that tells me something important,” she says. “Music really is a universal language of love.”

That belief in music as a connective, healing force isn’t theoretical for Aria—it’s a lived experience. Even outside the studio, her relationship with sound is intentional. She begins mornings with soft piano melodies or solfeggio frequencies while reading, gravitates toward bossa lo-fi on quiet Sundays, and swears Italian music makes every meal better when she’s cooking. As both an artist and a trained medical doctor, she sees sound as something that reaches beyond entertainment.

“I deeply believe in the healing power of sound,” she says.

Despite navigating industry shifts, personal reinvention, and the pressure of a fast-moving music landscape, quitting was never an option. “Music has been implanted in my heart, mind, and soul like a chip,” she says with a laugh. Even when she followed the path her family wanted—studying medicine—music never left her side. During medical school, she quietly recorded songs, shot videos, and booked gigs to fund her creativity, often in secret. Exhausting as it was, that period became foundational. “It’s that story that makes me strong, grounded, and different,” she says. Today, her family not only understands her path—they respect it.

That depth shows most clearly in her writing. One lyric that still gives her chills comes from “Golden Healing (Kintsugi),” a collaboration inspired by the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. “Don’t you believe that once you’ve been broken, you cannot be fixed,” she sings, turning fracture into beauty. The song was written alongside artists from different cities and walks of life, and that collective experience made the message resonate even more. For Aria, the idea is simple but profound: wounds don’t diminish us—they complete us.

In an industry obsessed with output and visibility, Aria approaches relevance differently. She releases music consistently, not out of pressure, but out of devotion to her craft. “Like an athlete trains, I show up to the studio,” she explains. Creating, refining, and releasing has helped quiet perfectionism and imposter syndrome, allowing her to trust the process more deeply. As she begins production on her next album, she’s embracing growth rather than fearing it.

“I think artists move in cycles,” she says. “There are seasons of expression and seasons of introspection. Sometimes you need to step away from the noise and return to the cocoon before the next chapter reveals itself.”

That philosophy also shapes how she defines success. If Aria’s discography were a story, she imagines it as a coming-of-age narrative—part awakening, part rebellion. A girl questioning the script handed to her, discovering who she really is once the noise fades. Along the way, love enters the picture—not as fantasy, but as partnership. Her songs now explore what healthy, honest love looks like, grounded in respect and mutual growth.

When it comes to knowing when a song is finished, Aria has learned to let go of control. “I used to overanalyze everything,” she admits. Now, she listens for feeling rather than perfection. “If it feels whole, I let it go.” She understands that growth means looking back and hearing things differently—and she welcomes that. Each song, finished or not, is simply a chapter.

Aria Fenix

If there’s one misconception about Aria Fenix, it’s that confidence comes easily. In reality, self-doubt has been a quiet companion. What’s changed is her relationship to it. She shows up anyway, honoring creative cycles and trusting the music to speak when words fall short.

As for dream collaborations, she doesn’t hesitate: Ariana Grande. “Ariana & Aria—already iconic,” she laughs. She imagines blending Grande’s signature softness with Latin pop rhythms, maybe even a touch of Spanglish. Unexpected, bold, and expansive—much like her own path.

Today, Aria Fenix is building more than a catalog of songs. She’s creating a universe—one that recently expanded with the launch of her natural skincare line, merging art, science, and intention. Healing, creativity, and authenticity run through everything she touches.

For Aria, the journey isn’t about arriving. It’s about continuing to ask questions, trusting instinct, and choosing freedom—again and again.
